Biography

Engr. Gomwalk, Celestine Wigag’a Gofup is a determined,  diligent, articulated  Engineer per excellence, a seasoned and professional Environmentalist with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the prestigious University of Lagos Akoka, Lagos State.He obtained his first degree in Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State. 

Career

He is the Deputy Director heading the Environmental Impact Assessment Division, Environmental Assessment Department, Federal Ministry of Environment Abuja. Charged with the responsibilities to evaluate and appraise any major developmentalproject in Nigeria on basis of the Environmental, Social and Health factors towards enhancing profit maximization and project sustainability. He is also involved in Environmental Training of Staff and numerous Organisations.He has facilitated and participated in several Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) across all sector of the economy and has also been a member of several EIA panel as a representative of the Honourable Minister of Environment. Notably, amongst them is the proposed Environmental Impact Assessment of Port Harcourt – Maiduguri Railway, Bonny Deepsea Port Project in Bonny Local Government Council, Industrial Park in Ubima, Ikwere Local Government Area by the Federal Ministry of Transportation.He is a member of several professional bodies in Nigerian such as Council for the regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) amongst others; he has also served as a member of several Inter-ministerial and Presidential committees. He is currently the representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment in HYPPADEC (Hydro-Electric Power Producing Area Development Commission), Mambilla 3050MW Hydro-Electric Power Project, TOTAL Plc. OML 58 Ibewa Gas Resurgence Incidence etc.
